The Military Museums Foundation has partnered with Air, Sea, and Army Cadets to create programs that target specific CCO learning objectives. Programs are available in person at the museums as well as virtually for any groups wishing to visit from outside the Calgary area.

Element Specific Programs

Element Specific Programs comprise an evening's worth of content. They begin with tours of the museums relevant to the particular element requested, including both branch and related cadet histories. This is followed by a lesson in propaganda tactics using historical examples from the branch being discussed. The program wraps up with a competitive round of trivia.

General Cadet Programs

General Cadet Programs span approximately 45 minutes. It is recommended that you select two for an evening of programming.

• Military Myth-Building: Learn the ropes of responsible citizenship by challenging national myths. This program discusses what national myths are, where they come from, and how they can be both used and abused. The tales of Vimy Ridge and Juno Beach are used as case studies. Includes a source analysis-based closing activity.  
• Time to Explore: Looking for some free time to explore the museums at your own pace? Our interpreters are happy to provide themed scavenger hunts to guide your exploration. 
• Artefact Handling: Get up close and personal with artefacts ranging in era from the Great War to the War in Afghanistan. Cadets will be instructed in proper artefact handling techniques before engaging with items both familiar and mysterious.
• Interpreter's Choice Tour: Want to branch out beyond your element? Let our interpreters show you their favourite stops across our seven museums!
