Evening and Adult Programs

NOTE: In line with the Province of Alberta's Restriction Exemption Program we require that all of our participants, including students, teachers, and adult supervisors over the age of 12 be fully vaccinated and be able to provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at The Military Museums for your program. Those that cannot provide proof of vaccination must provide proof of a privately-paid negative rapid test result taken within 72 hours or have documentation of a medical exception.

Those that cannot provide this will not be able to participate in programming at this time

The Military Museums and The Military Museums Foundation will often work together to put on education programs for the community.  Historically these have been referred to as a "lecture series" however, these are now changing into other events, including: special occasion celebrations and stories from important moments in Canadian Military History.

Please stay tuned for our 2022 adult program offerings.

Fall 2021 Evening Programs are booking now!

Are you a Scout or Guide group looking to book a program?

The Military Museums Foundation is currently offering evening programs for Scouts and Guides. An evening of programming is approximately 1.5 hours in length, consisting of your choice of two of our evening program offerings.

Our evening programs cost $10.00 per child, which includes two free adult supervisors. All additional adults will cost $6.00 per person.

Recommended evening programs are as follows:

Recommended for grades 4 and up
This is our quintessential Remembrance program. From the moment the guns fell silent on 11 November 1918, to the way that we embody memory today, participants will explore the legacy of the Great War in Canada. Includes the opportunity to write letters to Canadian veterans.

Understanding Remembrance
Recommended for grades 1-3
This program simplifies the themes of Armistice for our youngest audiences. Why is 11 November special? Why do we wear poppies? This program will include a remembrance tour of the Museums and a craft activity.

Boats, Bells, and Banners
Recommended for grades 1-3
Ahoy! This program introduces evening groups to Canada's Navy. Participants will dive into the science of buoyancy to understand how massive metal ships stay afloat. Then, they will learn about communication before computers, turning international maritime signal flags into a personalised craft to take home.

Artefact Handling
Recommended for any age group
Please touch the artefacts! Students will be lent a pair of white curatorial gloves and instructed in safe handling methods before being given a chance to interact with artefacts ranging in period from the Great War to Afghanistan.

Recommended for any age group
Groups can also choose guided tours of the Museums to fill one of their programming blocks. We offer tours of the three elemental museums, a combined tour of the regimental museums, a Women in War tour, and the opportunity for an "Interpreter's Choice" tour where they will show you their favourite spots in the Museums.

To book an evening of programming, fill in the Google form found below. Our Education Coordinator will draft a sample schedule for you, and upon your approval, will send you a letter of confirmation for your booking.

Any questions please email our Education Coordinator at

PLEASE NOTE: TMMF does not run evening programming on 11 November. As a supporting partner of The Military Museums, TMMF spends this very busy day supporting daytime Remembrance programming for the public. Thank you for your understanding.
